Text: Here's a new column I'm trying out. It will include tips, news andstuff that won't fit any whereelse in this newsletter. If you have any software tips, ideas, etc., pass it on to Bright Ideas. Leave me a note on the BBS or give me a call. Now on to some bright ideas. International Datawares Inc. who publishes the Diskette Gazette is selling close-out copies of FactFinder 1.1 for $19.95. FactFinder is a database that manages information in a free-form manner. It is particularly valuable to writers, researchers. It has been around for quite a while and was the database that originally managed all of S.M.U.G.'s names and addresses. This is a very good price for a capable product. Call International Datawares at 408-262-6660. I ordered one and received it quickly. It works on the 128K, 512K Mac and the Plus. When these are gone there will be no more. Visit the Mac section on our local Redwood BBS. Just type M9 at the main menu prompt. Several Mac users in Humboldt County have received their copies of Word 3.0. I haven't heard any local feedback yet. It's possible that Word 3.0 will be the topic for the April SIG. Should be very interesting. Aldus Corporation sent out letters to registered owners of PageMaker. PageMaker 2.0 for the Macintosh will be out in late March. Do read the article about MCS in this issue. It is a program worth getting. Jerry Daniels is at it again with a computer publication called MacWEEK. This one can be downloaded off of various BBS's. I got my copy off of GEnie. It is shareware: $5.00 per month. I don't know how this one is going to work out. I mean you have to pay for the download time plus send Mr. Daniels his fair share. This could be rather costly. I suspect it will be on some no-cost BBS's soon. Anyway, I'll let you know next month if the rumors are true that the Daniels's former electronic publication, the MacUnderground, is re-surfacing. To use the clipboard/scrapbook when you are using MacPaint, be sure and have the MacPaint program on the same disk that your system is located. If your system is in your ram drive, then just put MacPaint in your Ram. The newest version of the System & Finder will be available at the next meeting. Apple says don't miss it. That's all for now, See you on the BBS, KB
