Top 25 newsgroups with the greatest volume of messages

This list shows which newsgroups saw the greatest volume of messages during the month of May, 1994. The top 25 newsgroups are listed, along with the number of megabytes that flowed in that group that month. You'll notice that several "binaries" groups top the list -- binary data like pictures and sounds use an enormous amount of bandwidth. You'll also see a lot of talk about sex and hot political topics. This data was collected by Brian Reid (reid@decwrl.dec.com). You can find the most recent stats on news.lists once a month.
